Textile trade show Première Vision Paris will host its spring/summer 2024 edition just outside the French capital on 7-9 February 2023.
Marking its 50th year in 2023 and taking over the vast exhibition halls of Paris Nord Villepinte, the international event – known by many simply as PV – will welcome more than 1,000 exhibitors showcasing their yarns, fabrics, leathers, pattern designs, manufacturing solutions, accessories and components.
Première Vision Paris is an important event for the design community: last season it welcomed more than 23,000 visitors across three days.
The show covers the entire scope of raw materials and services, as well as offering a uniquely global insight into the coming season’s newest fashion and design trends, making it a hotspot for forecasters and fashion insiders, as well designers and creative directors.
Drapers meets Gilles Lasbordes, general manager of Première Vision Paris, to find out what is new at the upcoming February show and for the spring/summer 24 season.

What can visitors expect from Première Vision Paris in February?
They can expect to find a selective, international, qualitative and, above all, creative offer by some of the most innovative textile companies in the industry. Buyers, creative directors, and managers of fashion and accessory brands will find all they need to create their SS24 collections.
As well as curated zones, trend hubs and forums across the trade show, we will organise a series of talks and conferences over the three days, where industry professionals and experts are invited to discuss the most important issues of the sector.
Why should people visit Première Vision Paris over other textile shows?
What makes Première Vision Paris so special is its expertise as an industry-leading event, thanks to its long history – it was established in 1973 – and its ability to observe and analyse the evolution of the industry with an international overview.

Since it launched, Première Vision Paris has rigorously selected its exhibitors. Each potential exhibitor must fill in a detailed application including its turnover, its customers, its number of employees, its partners and subcontractors, its production processes, and more recently, its eco-responsible and social commitments. A selection committee of industry experts analyses each company and curates the exhibition. This means we present the best companies as a one-stop shop for fashion and accessory brands.
Why is Première Vision Paris such an excellent event specifically for fashion inspiration and forecasting trends?
Since its first shows, Première Vision Paris has been working on anticipating the fashion trends ahead of each season to provide its visitors with creative inspiration alongside a qualitative textile offer.
Today, we have a dedicated fashion team composed of materials and trends specialists. They work six months ahead of the show with international professionals and experts to forecast the coming season.
Once everything is set, the team organises big meetings with our exhibitors to present them with the seasonal macro-trends, to help them to develop their material collections for the new season to come ahead of the event.
Our team also sorts through thousands of samples from our exhibitors’ new collections to help present each season’s key trends at the trade show via fashion forums, colour range displays and fashion seminars, and online on our website.
Tell us about Première Vision Paris’s work in the sustainable space.
In 2015 we launched our Smart Creation programme dedicated to highlighting the sustainable initiatives of our industry and to discuss ecological issues for the fashion sector. At Première Vision Paris, this goes with a specific area where the latest eco-solutions and developments are presented.
What’s new this season in this area is a sector dedicated to technologies: in this Smart Tech space, there are around 30 companies presenting solutions to help brands towards better production thanks to digital technologies and software, or new services and processes: producing without or with less material waste, reducing the impact of manufacturing on the environment, or improving the logistics.
What is the Maison d’Exceptions area?
After a few seasons of absence, Maison d’Exceptions is back for its 10th edition. The area features a rich and ultra-creative offer with rare and exclusive know-hows and artisanal crafts.
This area is invitation only, and is intended for designers and buyers from luxury and high-end fashion brands on the hunt for exclusives.
This season 23 ateliers will reveal their outstanding techniques in textiles, leather and accessories. More than ever, these ateliers are focused on innovation to propose unique or custom-made products.

Where do you recommend attendees start their visit to Première Vision Paris?
The fashion forums, to get an overview of the SS24 season, the key trends and newest options on offer.
What are you most looking forward to?
For the last few years, with the Covid-19 crisis, travelling has been difficult and sometimes impossible for many countries. Now that travel bans have been lifted, we are looking forward to greeting our international visitors.
Where will we find you during the show?
In the alleys of the show or in my office to meet, talk and listen to the professionals visiting, from exhibitors to buyers and institution representatives.
If you could only make it to one conference, forum or event during PV, which would it be?
One good way to understand the SS24 season, to get inspiration and to create the right collections for your targeted markets, is to attend the Fashion Trend tastings – the fashion seminars organised and presented by our fashion team.
What else do you recommend visitors do while in Paris?
As well as wandering the streets to get inspiration from the stores, I would go to two exhibitions I liked recently: The Années 80, Mode, Design et Graphisme en France, at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (MAD Paris); and Frida Kahlo, Au-delà des Apparences [Frida Kahlo, Beyond Appearances] at Palais Galliera (Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris).
